Clelia Arnaldi, L'Assunta di Orazio Gentileschi
Nella Camera delle Guardie del Piano Nobile sono conservate due opere di Orazio Gentileschi: la grande Assunzione della Vergine, proveniente dal Convento del Monte dei Cappuccini, e il San Gerolamo in preghiera.
A Orazio Gentileschi spetta l'introduzione delle novità caravaggesche nel capoluogo sabaudo, dove la sua opera era nota e apprezzata fin dai primi del secolo. Nel 1622 l'artista spediva in dono a Carlo Emanuele I il dipinto con
Lot e le figlie
e l'anno successivo inviava da Genova la bellissima
Annunciazione
che il sovrano fece collocare nella cappella ducale. Per il Cardinal Maurizio, quartogenito di Carlo Emanuele I, eseguì intorno al 1625 un
Riposo durante la fuga in Egitto
